What's for dinner



Last night, kind of as a test run for future autumnal suppers, we had homemade vegetable soup, served with homemade bread. Dessert was homemade apple pie with homemade vanilla ice cream.

It's true, whipping up recipes from scratch does take a bit more time and planning, but they really do taste better, are often less expensive, are better for you, and can offer a high sense of satisfaction when everything turns out.

This Fall I am looking forward to picking apples, pears, and our Halloween pumpkins, making pie, slurping lots of homemade soup, indulging in even more reading & crafting than I have been since it's been summer & all, the holidays, Ryan's birthday, rain boots, pulling out our basket of hats, scarves, and gloves, and bundling up during moody, damp days. I really can't wait.
