On fire...but in a good way!

The month of love is officially here, and I am on creative fire (metaphorically speaking, of course).

Between working more hours than usual (I hear having two children is disproportionately more work than one - the same can be said for five-day work weeks versus my typical four) and absorbing the Sookie Stackhouse novels at an unprecedented rate (I've reached the point where I'm going to have to wait before the next one is in print to consume it) I haven't had much time to craft.

Yet somehow, I now have a lovely stack of eight cloth napkins with hearts embroidered on them. Really, it's because I visited a new fabric store last weekend and came across some beautiful striped men's shirting fabric (though, truth be told, I can't imagine many men pulling of the pretty pink, red, orange, and maroon-striped cloth). These days when I find some fabric I like but don't have a project in mind for it, I make cloth napkins. At this rate we're going to have enough napkins to each use a clean one for every meal of the day for a month. I'm telling you, the concept of no more paper has really taken off in this family.

I also made some Valentine's Day cards. Embarrassingly, we still haven't sent out thanks yous from Christmas, so I'm sending Valentine's Day cards with a combo thank you/love message. It's an unusual approach but I think it works.

Finally, we whipped up some World Peace cookies yesterday that are, how shall I say, all sorts of chocolaty magical goodness. They're going to be dessert for the superbowl today, a snack for our beach trip next weekend, and a sweet trip for Valentine's Day the weekend after that. This way, we control the calorie consumption.

That's it for now. With no sewing projects currently on the docket, and no Sookie books to distract me, I think I'm off to clean.

Happy Super Bowl day to you! May the best team win. Our "dog in the fight," as Ryan is calling it for some reason, is the Steelers, in honor of a few friends who love that team. And because they have a nice uniform. And because the Giants aren't representing. But don't bring that up around Ryan. Sssshhh.
