Hot summer nights

It is so hot right now. Hot. Hot, hot, hothothothothot. The air is heavy. The lighting outside is bizarre as the sun goes down. I think the air thinks its hot. But the good news is I heard from my friend Jess today. We miss Jess & Scott & baby Jack very much. They were the best neighbors ever (if you haven't detected it already, insert whinny voice from here on out).

Lots of new things in the works. We have a new family member to welcome to the world next spring (not mine). And a wedding this weekend in NW Washington, where we'll be staying in a cabin on the ocean in a heavily wooded forest with lots of trails and good eats and quaint ol' towns to walk hand in hand through. A little bird told us today it never gets hot there, further up the coast from here. That is where I belong, further up the coast from hot.

Since you asked, even though I'm from Las Vegas, Nevada, I have ZERO tolerance for the heat. I don't care if its dry heat, humid heat, or any other kind of heat, any heat is too much, and is certainly up to no good. Ryan doesn't care how uncomfortable I am. Doesn't faze him that I have sweat behind my knee caps, above my upper lip, and between my [swollen] toes. This is why I need you, dear blog. You listen without fire-hosing. But now that I think about it, an actual blast from a fire hose might feel good under present circumstances.

Other new things in the works. Summer clothes I picked out today, all on sale, during my hour & a half lunch. Love working downtown. A road trip with Ryan & dad in a few weeks. A long trip next summer (yes, I plan this far out and further) back east, hitting up Boston, the Cape, our little place in Rockport, the other Portland, and finally, deep Maine. What else? Oh yes. Our new suitcases from LLBean, thank you Mom in Maine. I love bags, containers, purses, wallets, pockets, and all other organizational things with zippers.

It's time to wrap up this inspired mid-summer rant. I'll be back next week with fun stories from the wedding, Washington, & the water (I love alliteration). Maybe by then I'll be ready to talk about Breaking Dawn. I miss it.

Now I have to go & iron.

Oh the heat! I must say that we have been very lucky here in Kansas this year. We have enjoyed being outside this far more than ever! "Keep Calm and Carry On." The heat will be gone soon!
