Ta da!

Here’s what my sewing machine & I have been up to lately.

On the top you have a new sewing machine cozy, complete with a handle, a slit for the chords, and a red liner, because every hard-working sewing machine needs a pretty and functional cover to keep the dust off! I based the pattern on the one found here and changed the dimensions slightly as needed. Possibly of interest, the cover is made from a pair of old jeans, an embroidered skirt (both too small), and some yellow & red cotton. I think yellow is my new favorite color.

And on the bottom you have a baby kimono wrap inspired by this pattern. Don’t you just love the elephants?!? Every lady I know under the age of 40 is having kids right now. I’ve been spinning out quilts and toys like nobody’s business and decided to try out something new. The pattern was designed by another architect (what is it with architects loving to sew?) and the directions are most magnifique. The only change I made was adding a liner. Next time, I might add a curve to the underarms (instead of cutting the sleeves at right angles) and try buttons instead of ties.

Fun, fun. Who’s next?

Rebecca, I'm not pregnant and I'm under 40 (under 30, actually), however, I really want one of those kimonos! Would you make me one if I bought a doll?
